Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to transfer a prescription?

Transfer times vary depending on response time from your current pharmacy and prescriber. Once the transfer is confirmed and your prescription is verified, the pharmacy will contact you with an estimated preparation and shipping time. Most prescriptions are prepared within 2 business days or less.

Will my prescription change when I transfer?

No changes are made without prescriber authorization. We verify all details before processing.

How do I start the transfer process?

You can start in one of three ways:

Online: Complete the transfer request form on this page. You will need your current pharmacy name and phone number, your prescription number, and your date of birth.

By phone: Call the pharmacy directly. A team member will gather the information needed and contact your current pharmacy on your behalf.

Through your provider: Ask your prescribing provider to send a new prescription directly to the compounding pharmacy. This is the fastest option for new or expired prescriptions.

Can Valor ship my prescription to me?

Yes, we can ship any non-sterile medication to any state in which we are licensed via FedEx. California is the only state in which we ship sterile compounded medications at this time. You will be asked to provide your home address during your checkout process and please note that we cannot ship to PO Box addresses.

What might cause a delay in my prescription delivery?

There are a few reasons why you may experience a delay in receiving your prescription. Here are some examples:

  • Your order is pending patient payment
  • There are no refills left on your prescription and/or your prescription has expired
  • Your prescription is pending authorization from your provider
  • There is an ingredient out of stock and is pending delivery.
  • The compound requires special packaging and shipping in order to be delivered on a weekday.

Are compounded medications covered by insurance?

Depending on your insurance plan, you may be reimbursed by sending in a claim form. Some insurance companies cover compounded prescriptions, however many do not. We suggest that you contact your insurance company to learn about your specific coverage. You may request a universal insurance claim form upon checkout of your prescription order that you may send to your carrier.

Is there a cost to transfer my prescription?

Valor does not charge a fee to transfer a prescription. Pricing for compounded medications may vary depending on formulation and ingredients.

Will my current pharmacy be notified?

Yes. When a prescription is transferred, the receiving pharmacy contacts the original pharmacy directly. Under pharmacy law, the original pharmacy must transfer a valid prescription upon request, and the original prescription record is then cancelled at the transferring location.
